The Lesser Known Saint

DD and I headed out for a pint of green beer in honor of St. Paddy's Day. Too bad the bar ran out of green food coloring before we got there. We did, however, enjoy the high school bagpipers that toured through the bar. Only in Idaho...

Everyone knows the story of St. Patrick and how he drove the snakes out of Ireland, but few know the story of St. Urho. My buddy from Butte enlightened me to the tale of this little known saint.
St. Urho is credited with driving all the grasshoppers out of Finland. The Finnish were so grateful they dedicated a day of drinking to him - March 16. Translation: You now have a reason to turn St. Paddy's day into a two day binge.
I was surprised to find information supporting the story: http://www.brownielocks.com/urho.html
